Key points
- A video posted on Facebook on November 5 by Noticiero Hoy Mismo shows two agents holding a man inside a New Jersey bakery.
- According to the post, the man is Honduran, asked for his wife to be called and was put into a vehicle without being able to explain anything further.
- People can be heard protesting in the recording: "This is private, let him go."
- ICE has not released public details about this case or the detainee's whereabouts.
What happened
Noticiero Hoy Mismo posted the video on Facebook on November 5, 2026. It has more than 840,000 views. The images show a bakery with glass counters, bread on display and a religious picture on the wall. Two agents in green vests, with the word POLICE on the chest, hold a man from behind.
The text accompanying the recording says it was an operation by ICE, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and that the detainee is a Honduran immigrant. The man asked for his wife to be called, but the agents quickly put him into a vehicle, according to the same post, which adds that the arrest caused concern in the community.
As he is taken away, voices can be heard protesting: "This is private, let him go" and "They're doing this for a couple of pesos." Out on the street, next to the parked cars, several men in plain clothes surround the scene.
What the video shows and what it does not
The recording tells the story from the point of view of whoever posted it. Vests marked POLICE do not by themselves show which agency the officers belong to; the identification as ICE comes from the text of the post and from Spanish-language media that reported on the case.
The video also does not show what happened before the arrest or where the man was taken. There is no information on his immigration status, whether he has a lawyer or what he is accused of. A name can be heard in the audio, but we are not publishing it because no one has confirmed it.
ICE's response
Telemundo reported on November 6 that ICE responded after the arrest and described the agents as hooded. In the images, the agents wear green vests and their faces do not appear to be covered. The agency has not issued its own statement on the case.
Context in New Jersey
The arrest adds to the unease over raids in the state. In late October, Univision reported that immigrant detentions in New Jersey are affecting families, schools and businesses. There are no public figures on how many arrests of this kind have taken place in the area, so it is not possible to say whether this case is common or exceptional. What the recording leaves is the scene itself: neighbors protesting as a man is taken to a vehicle on the street.
What's next
ICE's full account and any official information about the detainee's whereabouts and situation are still pending. If they come out, we will update this story.
